Your Complete Poland Itinerary
Day 1. We depart New York for Warsaw.
We depart New York's JFK airport via LOT?Polish airlines at 6:15PM. Your CPC Tour Manager will be waiting for you at JFK. Complete flight information will be sent to you as soon as you register. Full meal service is provided aloft.
Day 2. (D) We arrive in Warsaw. Tonight we socialize at a mystery dinner in the old city. Forum Hotel.
We arrive in Warsaw, are met and taken to our hotel, the centrally located Forum Hotel. Tonight we will enjoy a mystery dinner in the old city.
About Poland
Welcome to Poland, the starting place for the peaceful and dramatic changes that have taken place in a new and very civilized 'Middle Europe'. This birthplace of Chopin and Copernicus overflows with culture and beauty. Throughout their rich history (Poland produced Copernicus, Chopin and Conrad) the Poles have had an image with other Europeans as a unique, exceedingly enthusiastic and tenacious people. For centuries Poland has been embroiled in the power struggles of larger states, overrun by Mongol hordes and occasionally squeezed out of existence by her larger neighbor, but - Poland always comes back.
About Warsaw
Warsaw is the capital city of Poland and completely restored and brightened up. The old city has been recrafted according to old prints, maps and paintings. And now ancient Warsaw stands again. Modern Warsaw, built after the war, is worth noting as a testimony to one approach to urbanization.The relics of Nazi occupation are visible everywhere and memorial plaques abound throughout the city. Warsaw is easily strolled because its sights are close together.
Day 3. (B,D) We sightsee in Warsaw, then visit Chopin’s birthplace. Forum Hotel
This morning we sightsee in Warsaw. Among the sights that we will see are Zamkowy Square, the Royal Castle, the meticulously reconstructed old town, Krasinskich Square where the Palace of the Republic and the National Library are. From there we will travel along Midowa Street with its old churches and mansions, dating back to the 17th century. Next we visit Krakowskie Przedmiescie and Nowy Swiat streets that are lined with old mansions, churches, bookstores, antique shops and cafes. In Lazienki Park we will see the famous Palace on the Water, that is considered to be the most beautiful 18th century summer residence in Europe. This afternoon we visit Zelezova Vola, Chopin's birthplace.
About Shopping in Poland
Shops with regional souveniers, handicrafts and other goods are all over Poland. The most popular items are: anber and silver jewelry, laces and tablecloths and paintings.. Krakow’s artsy reputation makes it a great place to purchase jewelry and antiques.
Day 4. (B,D) Today we meet with Polish nurses at a local hospital. Later, we have lunch. The rest of the day is free. Forum Hotel
Day 5. (B,D) We go to Krakow and stop at the Shrine of Czestochowa and see the famous Black Madonna. Tonight we dine at Wierzynek, one of Europe's oldest restaurant (built in 1364). Novotel-Bronowice
We travel through the countryside to Krakow, Poland's oldest major city. Enroute we stop for lunch, and visit the Shrine of Czestochowa where we will see the famous "Black Madonna of Poland". We arrive in Krakow in the afternoon. This evening is free. Our hotel is the centrally located 280 room hotel Novotel Bronowice..This evening we will have a special gourmet dinner at the Wierzynek Restaurant (est. 1364). The oldest restaurant in Europe.
About Krakow
Listed by UNESCO in 1978 as one of the 12 great historical cities of the world, Krakow is an authentic medieval city rich in culture and full of dungeons, ramparts, towers and churches illustrating seven centuries of Polish art and architecture. Until 1611 the capital of Poland, Krakow is the seat of Poland's oldest university. and the heart of its history.
Never touched by the devastation of the World War II, Krakow’s medieval roots remain intact. Its main market square is famous as Europe’s most splendid marketplace where people have long enjoyed its picturesque open air cafes.
Day 6. (B,D) We sightsee in Krakow, then visit Auschwitz the infamous concentration camp. This afternoon we visit Weilicza Salt Mine. Novotel-Bronowice
Today we start sightseeing in the Old Town where over 700 hundred buildings have been preserved since the inception of Cracow. Pay careful attention to the Cloth Hall that was originally constructed in Gothic and later changed to the Renaissance style. Then we see the university, the Franciscan church, Dominikanski square and Kanoniczna street (one of Europe's best preserved locations). We also see Wawel, the former royal castle that for centuries was the residence for Poland's kings. This afternoon we visit Oswiecim - known in infamy - as Auschwitz - where millions of Jews and Poles lost their lives to the Nazi's. Next, we’re at Weilicza salt mine, one of the oldest and largest salt mines in Europe. Still active, the mine has been declared to be an important and historical monument by UNESO.
Day 7. (B) We attend to our professional agenda and visit a local hospital. This afternoon is free. Novotel-Bronowice.
This morning we attend to our professional agenda. This afternoon is free. You could also visit the ancient wooden village of Lipnica Murowana where you can see the last relics of the original wooden Polish architecture. This evening is free.
Day 8 We return to New York via LOT Polish airlines, arriving there at 8:45PM.
